I was surprised to find out that if you ask any good fencer about advice on fencing they will tell you to first work on footwork. I must thank Gav for suggesting this excellent video on footwork! More instructional videos on David Littel's youtube channel.

So you think you can fence?
So, a year has passed since I first started fencing and it is only now I begin to understand something more about it. There are just so many things to learn, it's like a huge puzzle and all the little bits are slowly coming together. My passion for it though remains just as strong! And I feel so lucky I finally moved to the city where my club is and now I can train three times a week :) There's a nice atmosphere at my club and I feel very encouraged by the senior members. However personal work is also required, I try and I read about it or watch videos. Also I would like to point out that a tremendous help have been discussions on this british fencing forum: fencingforum.com. There are some great fencers on it and people are generally very kind to answer my questions-great sense of humour too. It's also very interesting to read other people's posts, lots of useful information.
So anyway here's a video that has helped me realise quite a few things. It is directed at trainers but I find it enlightening nonetheless.
